[Degreeworks-l] FW: DW4.0.9 Critical Patch - Defect 1-SHEJ2K

This latest critical patch was released a couple of days ago.  Although we’re not on DW 4.0.9, the patch is applicable to ALL versions of DegreeWorks from 4.0.0 to 4.0.9, so we do need to install it.

If you click on the Commons post below, you’ll see that I asked how truly critical this patch was (since it talks about encountering a 4390 error and reaching a max of 2.1 billion entries with the unique_ID).  Several of the SGHE/DW staff/engineers answered about the importance of the patch.

I still don’t completely understand the technical aspects of the defect, but I have been encountering the 4390 error in DW TEST more often lately (although I’ve been able to get by it).  So it sounds like we do need to install the patch in our current environment (both DW TEST and PROD) at our earliest convenience.

See also the following post for the specific files we need to download to install the patch in our DW 4.0.7 environment (there are different files for different versions of DW).  We should only have to install it once, now, even though we’ll still upgrade later in the year to DW 4.0.8 or 4.0.9. However, the SGHE people say it’s really easy to install.

The 2011 DegreeWorks Symposium will be held November 9 and 10 at the Red Lion Hotel on Fifth Avenue in Seattle, Washington.  Conference registration and hotel reservation systems will be open in early August. A conference session schedule will be posted shortly. 1-SHEJ2K    DegreeWorks has been changed so that the UNIQUE_ID column is not part of the SELECT list when an audit is being retrieved for viewing. Without this change you will be unable to view audits once the UNIQUE_ID hits a certain limit.
