The DW4.0.7 Patch/Upgrade for DegreeWorks was released 9/1/10.

I've downloaded the release, installation, technical, & users guides and have placed them on the W: drive under the following path:
W:\Workgroups\DegreeWorks\Technical & User Guides

(I've moved all previous groups of technical/user guides to within this folder, separated by patch/upgrade version.)

SGHE has begun a new naming convention for the documents-a requirement, apparently, to incorporate the DegreeWorks docs into the SGHE organizational structure. Personally, I don't care for it, but it's not my call.

Old document names were as follows: DGW_Technical_Guide_UCX_DW406.pdf
New document names are as follows: dw40007ucxtg.pdf

They are only renaming docs when changes are made, but they renamed most of the ones for DW4.0.7. So...I renamed them using the old convention. Since I consult them a lot, I find it much easier to identify the guide I need. I'll try to rename them in future upgrades, but we might want to get familiar with the new convention anyway. I've copied the files with their NEW names to a folder labeled: Z-DW4.0.7 New Files-Abbreviated File Names (xtra)

Other Files Updated on the W: Drive:

* 2010 Calendar_DegreeWorks: Includes dates of the latest software release and possible dates for future releases, although those may change. I've also noted dates for registration and when the class schedule will be available through the portal. DegreeWorks will be used throughout the semester, but might be more heavily used once advising for Jan Term & Spring begins in earnest. The calendar is available in both Excel and PDF.

* DW-Log of Software Releases & Patches: Includes highlights/features of the DW4.0.7 release. Some of the new features include the Athletic Eligibility Audit (as well as a new ATHL user class), expanded custom search fields under FIND, and the ability for users to run a new audit from the Notes page after adding/modifying a note (this will be tied to a new SHPCFG key). There's also supposed to be a new feature that allows certain users to "freeze" an audit, add a description, and delete an audit from the History Tab (some of this is done in Transit but some of this can be done from the Web, but are also related to new SHPCFG keys-which we can control).

* DW-Defects Reported in DW 4.0.x: I've added the latest info from the Weekly Reports, so if we encounter an error or problem, we can try searching on it here to see if it's a reported defect.

* Under the Solutions-FAQs folder, I've updated the PDF file that looks at lots of misc DW-related problems and solutions that were provided by SGHE: DW Solutions-FAQs (Customer Support Center) (ALL). For those with access to the Customer Support Center, you see this after logging in, clicking on Solutions/FAQs (bottom right of screen), then typing DegreeWorks on the Product line and clicking Go. For those without such access, I created the PDF from that Web page so you could see what's going on. (This also included some notes on how to install the DW PC Tools on Windows 7, which has been problematic, although doable.)

That's all for now.

Thanks, Jane
