[Degreeworks-l] FW: DW4.0.7 DegreeWorks Software Patch Available

Just received this message about the latest DW upgrade.  I haven’t downloaded or even looked at the documentation, so I don’t know how extensive this upgrade/patch is.  I don’t see a need to do this immediately, but I know we don’t want to wait too long either.

So discuss when you think might be a good time to install the upgrade in TEST, then in PROD, and let me know.

The next big release is tentatively scheduled for mid-December 2010, although that date could change.

FYI: Cathy Scott and I will be attending the DW Symposium in November 2010, so if we’re able to be upgraded (at least in TEST) by then, then that might help as we meet w/other clients and ask questions of the DW developers.  But EAG needs to see what might work within their current calendar, keeping in mind that registration for Jan Term & Spring will open up October 27.

If you are on any other version of the DegreeWorks software, DO NOT install this patch.

Note:  DW4.0.7 is cumulative, including DW4.0.1, DW4.0.2, DW4.0.3, DW4.0.4, DW4.0.5 and DW4.0.6 software changes.

DOWNLOAD INSTRUCTIONS:

To download the defect patch, go to the SunGard Higher Education Support Center web site - https://connect.sungardhe.com/customer_support

Click on 'Documentation & Download Center', then the 'Documentation’ tab near the top.  Choose DegreeWorks from the 'Select Product' list.  Check the checkbox next to ‘DW4.0.0’ ‘Install Guide’ and ‘Release Guide’ and click the "List Files" button.

Next, click on the 'Software Downloads' tab near the top.  Choose DegreeWorks from the 'Select Product' list.  Check the checkbox next to "DW4.0.0" and click the "List Files" button.

Patch File:                                                                dwupd-dw4.0.7.tar.gz
PC Installation File:                                                   DegreeWorks_406_Setup.exe
Flex Application Configuration File (optional):               DegreeWorks_407_AppCfg.exe
Sample Reports File (optional):                                  SampleRpts_DW404.zip

Check the checkboxes next to the instructions and patch file, and click the 'ZIP Selected Files' button. Click on the 'Click Here to Download the ZIP File' button to download into your download area. See the Installation Instructions (DGW_Installation_Guide_DW407.pdf) for the steps to install this patch onto your server.
