Good evening and apologies for any cross-posting!

We know you have already received a lot of information about the 2017 Convention; however, we wanted to share with you some of the specific academic related topics and events that are occurring at the 2017 Convention.

Of course, all attendees will enjoy listening to best-selling authors Steve Berry and Tayari Jones; and meeting ALA President-Elect James Neal. There will be a behind-the-scenes tour of the Alabama Archives and Department of History on Wednesday, April 19th. On Thursday, April 20th, join other attendees on a guided tour of the Rosa Parks Museum (Interested individuals must register for these tours by April 1st!).

Specifically for academics and academic librarians, there are numerous sessions that will cover a plethora topics relevant for academic professionals and academic librarians; subjects like textbook affordability, needs assessment in an academic library, cross-collaboration, and others.

On Wednesday, April 19th, the College, University, and Special Libraries division of ALLA will host their annual breakfast with special guest Dr. Chris Shaffer who will speak on developing small grants for academic library funding. Later that afternoon, they will conduct their annual CUS Research Awards and recipients will have an opportunity to present their research findings.

?

After the inaugural Public Officials Reception (see the Preliminary Program for more information on that event), Join the Alabama Association of College & Research Libraries as they enjoy dinner and hear Dr. Lauren Cardon from the University of Alabama speak on the topic of digital humanities and the role students play in this emerging field.

Presenters representing academic libraries from Alabama and across the Southeast will offer engaging, practical, and interactive sessions that will guide you in impacting your academic community.

Make sure to register by April 1st at the ALLA website: https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__tinyurl.com_ALLA-2DRegistration-3F&d=DwIFAw&c=GTxgfYI6i4KYikqC6GK_Jzn2mYGEh-v4HEPYCyQcJzU&r=Wcw2DK1jSyYu2vW8GUrouU1_uD7H6Z7B53V5KVdtm8w&m=vNB4dCxZcwe01NGUmWkeQor4qon3w9Sf4SXoeaYZiXU&s=OKkRe7iLKNHjJtsGSzZRw0fWpmKQGzrYHffKSURsnWY&e= to ensure your tickets for our special events. Onsite registration for the Convention itself is available; however, you must pre-purchase all of your event ticket .

After registering, make sure to reserve your hotel room so you can access all the action at the Renaissance Hotel & Spa in Montgomery: https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__tinyurl.com_renaissance2017&d=DwIFAw&c=GTxgfYI6i4KYikqC6GK_Jzn2mYGEh-v4HEPYCyQcJzU&r=Wcw2DK1jSyYu2vW8GUrouU1_uD7H6Z7B53V5KVdtm8w&m=vNB4dCxZcwe01NGUmWkeQor4qon3w9Sf4SXoeaYZiXU&s=j9j1Mj4lByqtgwCOeQ2kockRxFe2mDIXsXxQlP7XyXk&e=
