Tho you made lemonade out of a heck of a lemon, Mike .. I feel for you. I've never had a horn disappear that way, but I can only imagine the pit of your stomach when you heard the words.

I, like you, don't expect you'll find *your* Tuba again, and trust your insurance will cover costs adequately.

Best of luck in dealing with them, and I hope your new friend will be as nice to you as your old one was.

Be well, sir....

Subject: [Trombone-l] Tuba or not Tuba? That is the question.

As I usually do, I flew to meet the Stan Kenton Alumni Band with my bass trombone and tuba in tow. I flew into the East Coast a day early so I could take my son and his fiancé, who live in Manhattan, to dinner. After arriving at the airport (ain't gonna tell ya the name) I gathered my suitcase from the carrousel and went to the "Odd and Large Size" area to pick up my instruments. Imagine my surprise when the luggage guy informed me that he'd already given my tuba to "your friend."
I explained to him that I have no friends (a fact to which many of you readers will readily attest) and that he needed to call his boss immediately.
