[Trombone-l] Bach cello suites

In general, I'd agree with that observation.  However, specific 
(small) parts of the cello suites sound just fine to me performed on 
trombone.  As an example, I think Don Knaub's recording of the Suite 
5 Sarabande is lovely.

When I was starting my comeback after a 20-year trombone layoff, I 
played the cello suites a lot.  So much more fun than exercises and 
just about as good for you!
