[Trombone-l] about rotor mechanism

The spring is not inside the rotor. The spring that brings the valve
back is on the thumb lever. Try to move the valve by turning the axle.
If it's hard to move, the valve needs to be cleaned and maybe
repaired. If it moves easily, then you may have a broken spring, which
would take maybe 10 minutes for a repairman to replace.
