I agree with this approach 100% - I use a New York Bach 7C with my 3B and 
like the "Big Band" sound. I tried a 6 3/4 C which has a smaller throat than 
the 7C and hated the "blary edgy" sound I got, but from all the discussion 
maybe that is the desired sound for some genres.
