Dan,

Stick with the King 606 instead of this thing.  Even if it was given  
to you, it's not worth the cost of fixing it.  I see Getzen 351  
trombones on Ebay for $100 or so and they are a way better horn.   
Plus if you need a part, they still make them.  With that old  
Silvertone, you'll never even find the part anyway, so it's pointless  
to buy it.  You'd have to replace both the inner and outer slide with  
a matched set.  Save your money and buy a decent horn.  King 2Bs and  
3Bs can be found in the $300-600 range, Conn 4H, 6H and 48H, Bach 8,  
12, 16, 16M, Yamaha 691, 695, all good small horns.
