I once played tuba while sitting next to two ophicleides in a French style
military wind band and that is pretty much what they sounded like.  On top
of that the players beefed thru'out the program about the fingering being
the opposite way round to that of the sax.  I'm afraid it wasn't a very
enjoyable event.
