My boot training was the last "big" boot camp surge for Orlando, so I
was told.
I was going to be drafted around 1970, but called and found openings
in DC for the Army and Navy.
I consider myself to be very lucky, and I am proud to have served my
time in the U.S. Navy Band. They are on tour this week through parts
of Texas. I missed the Kingwood date Saturday, but hope to catch up
with them in either Lake Jackson or Wharton.
Monday, March 9th
Georgetown HS (near Austin)
Tuesday, March 10th
Texas Lutheran University; Seguin, TX
Wed., March 11th
Kathleen Cailloux Theatre, Kerrville, TX
Thurs., March 12
Del Mar Community College; Corpus Christi (spring break anyone?) TX
Friday, March 13
The Clarion at Brazosport College, Lake Jackson TX
Saturday, March 14
Wharton HS
The band played at the ABA convention to a house of approximately 1500
directors. I'm told they sounded splendid and really rose to the
occasion, enjoying the various conductors on the podium. I wish I
could have been there for that one. It was held at Texas A&M
University on Friday, March 6th in Rudder Auditorium.
