I'm planning to make my son learn on the same "vintage" Olds Ambassador 
I learned on.  I figure if he can get anywhere with that stuffy 
monstrosity with a slide that feels more like a tuning slide, he'll 
appreciate whatever step-up horn I provide (which will probably be my 
88H, which is only slightly less stuffy than the Olds.)  If he can run 
that gauntlet, I'll buy him something decent.  Does that just make me a SOB?
