[Trombone-l] New Orleans, Preservation Hall, Lucien Barbarin

At first when he started playing, in the ensemble, I could not believe
it. "Tut-tut-tut-tut-tut" - cutting off every note with his tongue -
something I correct in young teach students the first time I hear it.
But in his first solo, he won me over very quickly.
I googled him some when I got home, heard some of the clips on the web,
and can tell that he is more versatile than the strictly trad playing he
was doing that night. But the "tut-tut-tut" style does come through
sometimes, even in his lyrical playing. Takes some adjustment for my ear.
