Keith,

I think you are quite right about how many rich and famous people do not get good medical or psychiatric help which they may badly need. It may be difficult to find the villain(s) in this piece, because Michael was surrounded by so many staff and security people. Dozens, maybe hundreds of people, made very good incomes by "protecting" him from everyone but himself. They are not in the least interested in telling him the truth about his obvious physical and mental problems, and even if they did, he likely might have fired them or distanced them in some other way.

We have seen this happen again and again in the sad cases of Elvis, Howard Hughes, John Belushi, John Candy, Lenny Bruce, Jim Morrison, and many others.

A man who knew Michael said earlier today on CNN that he was surrounded by "enablers" and that he was definitely "overmedicated".  Maybe what he really needed was not a "comeback", but a few really honest friends who were not afraid to confront him with the truth and try to bring about some kind of intervention. Of course, even that may not help if the person if sufficiently sick and/or stubborn.

Fame and money and power....an often deadly combination.

Guys

I always thought that Jackson didn't get the psychiatric help he needed because he was rich and famous and could do whatever he wanted. All the signs were there that he had flipped but people were happy to keep taking his money. When did he last produce anything worth listening to? Some time ago wasn't it.

If he'd been an everyday guy he would either have been okay or at least would have had medical attention.

The price of fame?
