[Trombone-l] Dental Implants

I recently had a molar implanted. I had a failed root canal. An
abscess formed at the base of the root (= PAIN). Tooth was pulled.
After 2-3 months I was examined and it was determined that the bone
density was good enough to drill the pilot hole. Hole was drilled and
titanium screw was installed. About two months after that I was
examined again to see if the implant had satisfactorily integrated into
the jawbone. It had. A crown was ten put on the implant. The crown
broke within two months grrrr....

There are various procedures. I've seen some videos on YouTube showing
one step implants whereby the tooth is extracted and the socket is
immediately drilled for the implant which is then placed. I only saw
this being done on single-root teeth (not molars).

There is also a sort of hybrid solution for the replacement of several
teeth up to and including entire sets of teeth. Some implants are
placed in the bone (six, eight?) and then a full set of teeth is
attached to these.

None of this is cheap, but for replacing lots of teeth the hybrid
solution is going to be much less expensive than individual implants for
each tooth.
