Hello Frank & Listers
Just looked into an old Conn catalog that features these models. According to my catalog (no date, propably describing older version of the 62H) also the 62H originally came out with Bb-F-E setup. The
D tuning slide might have come as an option. Both horns have the same design, except that the 62H has a red brass bell and the tuning slide in the bell
As is, the horn needs to be tuned to flat E (pulling your E tuning slide out) to get the low B in tune
Looks there should not be a problem for an experiance repairman to build for you a D tuning slide. The repairman, though, will have to bend it to avoid a clash with the valve wrap. This can make the job somewat more expensive.
I'd recommnd also changing the 2nd trigger to be operated with the third finger, rather than leave it to operate by the thumb. Shifting the thumb between both triggers would be very inconveniant and will slow down on technical passages.
Funny you use the term "paddle" - I never encountered this term (in this context) before
Best Wishes
Eliezer Aharoni.
