Ray Horton asked what is WASBE. In cooperation with the National Band
Association and Conductor's Guild, the 2009 WASBE convention is being
held at the prestigious Cincinnati Conservatory of Music. Go to the
WASBE2009com website and click on "performing ensembles" to see a list
of the 14 bands invited to perform at the 2009 conference.

But that doesn't quite yet answer Ray's question. WASBE is an acronym
for "World Association for Symphonic Bands and Ensembles", and while I
had never heard of it prior to six months ago when Mr. Brion mentioned
the convention's invitation to the New Sousa Band, I have been
impressed with what I have seem from the organization thus far.

WASBE Convention is in the US, first time since 1999 – the finest
bands from around the world will be in Cincinnati from July 5-12, 2009

The CCM Corbett Theatre is a spectacular hall, and one that we all
enjoyed very much. I hope that answers the question.

> Also, Wayne, what, on earth, is a WASBE? And say hello to Keith
> Brion for me. I played euph solos ("All Those Endearing Young
> Charms" and "Beautiful Colorado") on two of the concerts he did with
> the Louisville Orchestra, years back. (Also, I played Bs. Trb.on a
> wind ensemble concert he did at Aspen in 1970, when I was 17!).
