I've done "Love's Enchantment" and "Thoughts of Love" with the Hollis Town Band.? I've also done lots of the Herbert L. Clarke pieces (The Southern Cross, Stars in a Velvety Sky, From the Shores of the Mighty Pacific, Bride of the Waves).? Also, see if you can get some of the Clay Smith pieces (you will probably have to rent them from the Chatfield Community Band Library).

Another piece that seems to work well by Sammy Nestico called "Persuasion".

Good luck.

Subject: [Trombone-l] Looking For Solo Piece With Band

I'm about to start my 3rd year and the Band Director has said that he would
be interested in me doing a solo piece with Band if I could find something
that the group could play. It's a small Community College that I've been
playing in for the last 4 years and the group is not, how shall we say,
polished? We have a lot of community members that come in and play and we
only practice one night a week. I think they would have a heart attack if I
put something like 'Love's Enchantment' in front of them.

Are there any pieces (especially newer nonplayed) that would be technically
challenging for me but easy(er) for the rest of the group?

Thanks! :)
