[Trombone-l] Plunger Mute question...

I am usually a no hole guy when it comes to plungers. I do have one with
the hole cut and a coin in it, so I can open or close it as needed, but I
think that one ended up with my trumpet playing stepson. I have a heavy
black one that I love the sound of. I am thinking that I may cut a hole in
a different one to use for the fully closed harmon type sound, and just
carry both plungers.
Ultimately the hole/no-hole thing is about the balance of how wild the pitch
gets and the sound. The pitch is weirder with no hole, but the effect on
the sound is more pronounced. I think it can be a pretty personal decision,
with lots of different answers being effective for different players.
