[Trombone-l] Plunger Mute question...

Hey gang,

How about discussing this:  Do you use the plunger with a hole cut in  
the end (where the stick would go) or not.  I have heard both ways,  
but never really found a definitive answer.  I guess with the hole  
you can play it totally closed and get that buzzy sort of sound if  
you want that.  What do the real plunger specialists (Al Grey, isn't  
it?) advocate?  Just curious.
