About ten days ago, in the discussion on Gilbert Kaplan, Dave Burch mentioned the Cincinnati music scene:

"On the other hand, here in Cincinnati, chamber music is *thriving*. On any weekend, the missus and I can choose from a buffet of small-scale performances hosted bt churches or museums. Chanticleer, the famous all-male chamber chorus, sells out a 1000-seat cathedral here every year. There are many fine local instrumental, vocal, and even performance art groups here, and an active Chamber Music Network publicizing all the above."

Dave didn't even mention the great symphony orchestra, led by Paavo Jarvi.  There's a fine conservatory.  Lots of great things happening in Cincinnati.  Check out critic Mary Ellyn Hutton's blog entry on the "Best of 2008."
