I first "met" Butch here on Trombone-L some 10 years ago (has it been
that long?). He and I had much in common, including a love for the
trombone and big bands. We struck up a long-lasting friendship, and
he is already being missed!
He and Henry Mason even traveled from Atlanta, GA to Beaumont, TX for
one of my college jazz band concerts that featured Mr. Bill Holman
conducting my band. That was a very memorable few days.
RIP, Butch... heaven's trombones are surely swingin'.
