While, yes, some slides are longer than others, and some trombones have first position further out than others, the distance between first position and seventh position needs to be the same for all Bb trombones. First position is always about nine feet of tubing. Seventh position is always about 12 feet of tubing. If the crooks are different lengths, then that length needs to be made up somewhere else, so that the overall trombone is the correct length.
Now, I do prefer the sound of slides that have a dual-radius slide and those slides tend to be physically shorter. But the distance between first position and seventh position does not change.
