I have a couple of Hercules mic stands (w/ booms). LOVE 'em!! And
they were only a couple of bucks more than a basic stand.

I had a chance to use a Hercules stand for a while and found it was

The two things I liked best were that it has a locking grip you use
to raise
and lower it. Very useful if you have to stand for solos. Second was the
base actually tilts. So I could set the base further away from my
feet, but
still move the desk to within optimal viewing distance.
If you want a carrying case, I found a baseball bat case works well
and is
much cheaper than the Hercules case.

Dear Listers,
I am in need of a collapsible music stand of the sturdy Manhasset
variety, i.e. a solid holder, strong column, etc, but neatly
collapsible. Do you have any recommendations?
Thanks for the advice.
Jay
