Besides, the mutual animosities between Islam and the West go back before
the time of the First Crusades, to 711 A.D., when Muslim hordes overran a
good portion of Europe, beginning with Spain...and they didn't even need
George Bush to rally them.

I have never been mugged, my home has not been broken into, etc. Should I
credit Bush?

The fact is that there are now more terrorists in the world. The number of
terrorists attacks in the world, according to Bush's State Department have
increased every year since Bush invaded a country which had nothing to do
with the 9/11 attack and has motivated more people to the terrorist cause.
Had Bush concentrated on destroying Osama bin Laden's organization in
Afghanistan, the world might be safer from terror attacks.

Notice that I don't blame Bush for the 9/11 attack. That was due to poor
intelligence coordination within the government which has improved under
Bush.

I blame Bush for destroying the moral high ground which the U.S. had
enjoyed. I blame Bush for weakening our military capabilities, for a
reckless disregard of the US economy, for politicizing science and the legal
framework of our government.
