[Trombone-l] New symphony with Trombone Solo

Hi all

Last weekend the Norwegian Band Association arranged the annual Norwegian Wind Band Championship in Trondheim, Norway.

A weekend filled with wonderful wind band music, and for everyone unable to attend, the Norwegian Broadcast Corporation made all the performances in the Elite and 1st sections available for download via Web Broadcast.

The reason I write to the Trombone-L about this is that Musikkforeningen Nidarholm premiered a newwritten symphony they had commissioned from norwegian composer Stig Nordhagen. His Symphony no. 1 for band - Solitude Standing, was very well receieved from the audience, and can be heard at http://www1.nrk.no/nett-tv/klipp/479143 together with Eric Whitacres Equus.

In the opening of the 2nd movement, the symphony contains a lovely trombone solo, so for all you band musicians abroad, contact Mr. Nordhagen and get the symphony played worldwide!
