I'll try that again...sorry.

For those of you who live in the Atlanta area or who might be passing through next weekend this is something you might be interested in:

Churchill Grounds Presents the FUNDERHORNS SUMMIT

Friday, September 26 and Saturday, September 27, 2008

The FUNDERHORNS were formed in early 2006 by Atlanta trombonist Wes Funderburk. After adding trumpeter Ken Watters and saxophonist Will Scruggs, the trio quickly established themselves as the one of the Southeast’s top-call horn sections for both the recording studio and live performance.
By the Fall of ’06 the FUNDERHORNS had already received national attention and critical acclaim after they were featured on Natalie Cole’s Gramy-nominated CD, Leavin’, produced by Atlanta’s own Dallas Austin. They quickly became known as the on-call horn section of D.A.R.P. Studios, and went on the road to back up Natalie Cole, including a sold out performance at the Apollo Theater in NYC.

Despite their commercial success, the FUNDERHORNS’ roots are in straight-ahead jazz. Scruggs and Watters both have chart-topping solo releases on Summit Records, and Funderburk runs one of the world’s top trombone podcasts and has toured with the Boston Brass.

The FUNDERHORNS SUMMIT, on September 26 and 27 at Churchill Grounds, is their first major jazz performance as an ensemble. The performance will feature original compositions from each of the Funderhorns as well as classic 3-horn tunes from the likes of Art Blakey and Wayne Shorter. They will be joined by a fantastic rhythm section featuring pianist Louis Heriveaux, bassist Tommy Sauter, and drummer Clay Hulet.
