Subject: [Trombone-l] Hurricane Ike
I live in Sulphur, LA. It is close to the TX-LA border and 45 minutes
drive from the Gulf of Mexico.
Lately we evacuated to Dallas TX, so this time we stayed home.
We are getting an indirect blast from the storm. We have had winds in
excess of 40 mph for 24 hours now. Power outages are hit-and-miss in
Sulphur. We are getting a hurricane rain band now. It should last for at
least an hour.
The main drainage laterals are overflowing into the streets (and a few
homes).
We are sheltering-in-place.
No mandatory evacuation order was ever given.
P.S. our house is fine.
Sandy Lewis
