Taken from the trunk of my car, in Belmont, MA, on Sunday evening, 10/26:
Yamaha YSL-871 alto trombone, gold brass, with red brass Bb attachment, created from the F attachment of an Olds Recording trombone. Brown leather Cronkhite G-series alto trombone gig bag.
Yamaha YSL-681B tenor trombone with Hagmann valve and F attachment, black Wolfpak case with legs.
The car was parked outside and across the street from the Payson Park Congregational Church in Belmont, MA. I was inside playing in a pickup orchestra for the Belmont Open Sings. The orchestra plays for the fun of it and the singers pay to sing along. I was on the alto part of Mozart's Requiem, with a Shires alto.
When I returned to the car, the trunk was open and the trombones were gone. A guess is that I somehow operated the trunk-opening remote as I walked away from the car, a '99 Honda Accord. I had loaded the Shires and my equipment bag into the back seat before leaving home, and did not go near the trunk on arriving at the church. The thieves left a couple of large LL Bean tote bags packed with trombone ensemble music, from quartets to septets, thankfully.
Anyway, both of these trombones are odd ducks, and should stand out if offered on eBay or the friendly neighborhood pawn shop. Please let me know of you see or hear of them.
Thanks,
Jim Battell
