[Trombone-l] Transition from Tenor to Bass Trombone -- Practice Idea...

My sophomore year at CCM, my roommate was a bass trombone major. He
used to practice playing along with Take 6 and would get mad because
their bassist could sing a whole step lower than my roommate could play.

He particularly liked playing along with "He Never Sleeps" -- great
long-tone practice!

Cheers!

Most bass trombone players use a double-trigger instrument since a

bass trombone music requires facility to obtain a low B natural (not

While learning a single trigger instrument might be OK, but you will
need
to upgrade fairly soon. Or you can make sure you have a flat-E pull
length
tuning slide and learn to deal with the frequent retuning (we used to do
this a lot back in the "bad old days").

I don't think a double trigger is that much more expensive than a
single.
Perhaps you could meet your budget by buying a used double.

Good luck.
