Most bass trombone players use a double-trigger instrument since a lot of
bass trombone music requires facility to obtain a low B natural (not
available on all single trigger basses and requiring a reconfiguration of
the attachment (pulling the tuning slide out) on others.
While learning a single trigger instrument might be OK, but you will need
to upgrade fairly soon. Or you can make sure you have a flat-E pull length
tuning slide and learn to deal with the frequent retuning (we used to do
this a lot back in the "bad old days").
I don't think a double trigger is that much more expensive than a single.
Perhaps you could meet your budget by buying a used double.
Good luck.
