Perhaps the best solution, as tunings for various rotor combinations can
vary, would be to sit down with your instrument and a tuner and note the
intonation tendencies for your particular valve tuning and valve
combinations?

Subject: [Trombone-l] Bass Trombone Intonation Chart (Bb F/Gb/D)
Thanks to all of you who have responded to my question. In response to
answers that I have received from Howard Spindel, Jon Bohis, and Eliezer
Aharoni, here is a more detailed explanation of what I was hoping to find
for an inline, independently valved, Bb/F/Gb/D Bass Trombone.
The Trombonist¹s Handbook, by Reginald H. Fink tackles the problem of
intonation for tenor trombone on page 76 (Chapter 17). I have found that his
explanations, and particularly his ³INTONATION CHART² on page 79 have been
very helpful in reminding me what to do with my slide when I am practicing
the modes of the trombone overtone series with proper intonation. I have
wished for years that someone had extended Fink¹s ³Intonation Chart² idea on
down for each of the independent valves that are found on the inline
Bb/F/Gb/D bass trombone. Having something like this on the music stand FOR
QUICK REFERENCE would be quite convenient.
If you have Fink's book, please take a look at page 79 to see what I mean.
Basically, what you would end up with would be an intonation chart that
would extend down through all of the slide positions for each of the
independent bass trombone valves and/or combinations of valves (F, Gb, & D).
Thanks Again.
