I'm kind of in the same boat. Tried one in a store practice room for a while
when I was there for another reason and didn't have my horn (a mid 70's Bach
50 modified with dual inline F/Gb/D) with me for comparison. I had the same
first impressions: free blowing all the way down, had some nice bite while
still seeming like it had some meat to it. The real proof would be to get it
into a rehearsal/performance situation and do a side-by-side with the Bach
to see how it compares out in the hall.

Has anyone had time to form an opinion about these horns?

I tried one briefly this afternoon.  Very easy to play, nicely in tune, very
comfortable to play.  But not enought time and not really the best
environment (middle of busy music store) to form an opinion.
