I use different mouthpieces on the same trombone, anywhere from a 5 to a 3 (usually the Bach 3 or Wick 4A).

But I have the luxury of being able to change mouthpieces, whenever I want.  I don't have to keep my chops in perfect shape because I play for enjoyment, alone.
