Eric Carlson has transcriptions of Mahler lieder (e.g., Songs of a
Wayfarer, Ruckert Lieder) for trombone. Orchestral parts are mostly
in the same key, but easily transposed for those that are not.
They are not particularly challenging technically, but they are
challenging if you want to make them into beautiful music.
I performed a couple of them with my local amateur orchestra, and
they went well.
Other than the Mahler lieder, the obvious choices (Martin: Ballade,
Larsson Concerto) come to mind. They can be technically difficult,
and I think the Martin goes up to a high D while the Larsson hits a
high C. (That's from memory, so it could be a little off.)
