I would suggest the Lars-Erik Larsson (sp?)- Concertino. Good piece for
trombone and strings - there are a couple of high c's in the last mvt.,
plus some technical challenges, but it's very accessible for a good high
school player.
I've played the DeMeij, and it's very tough for endurance - even just
playing one or two mvts. Most high school players would not have an easy
time with it. I also don't know of an orchestral arrangement.
The Milhaud - Concertino is also for trombone and strings, but is a
difficult piece to pull off musically for a younger player, and is tougher
for most audiences to "warm up to". It is, however, a good piece in the
right hands.
