[Trombone-l] Music for tenor and bass trombone and piano

This brings up a question I've tried to "break the code" on from time to
time. I'd really like to find the "accompaniment" hymnal that includes
alternate chording and perhaps a modulation for hymns in the hymnal. I
hear organists playing these things, and during my last trip to NYC I
found pianists doing the same thing.
I find it so difficult to believe that non-trombonists would do this
just out of their head (OK, so that's a bit of a shot, but you get my
drift).
Do the accompaniment hymnals you speak of have these features?
Thanks!

Gabe,
If it happens to be an Episcopal or Anglican Church and you expect to be
playing from a hymnal there are a number of hymn tunes written or
arranged by Vaughan Williams. one of them, the hymn tune "The Call", was
recorded
(solo) by Doug Yeo with piano accompaniment in the Nick Hudson - Doug
Yeo album "Two of a Mind". I have done several of them in church on
tenor with organ. The hymn tune "Sine Nomine" would be particulary good
for tenor and bass (IMHO). You would need to get hold of the
accompaniment edition of the hymnal to develop your arrangements as the
pew edition, more often than not, only has the melody line.
