Center Stage Program Features Trombone Quartet
Cookeville, TN ‹

The Center Stage Concert Series at Tennessee Tech University will present a
free concert by Quartet du Sud at 6 PM on Friday, April 4th, 2008 in
Wattenbarger Auditorium of the Bryan Fine Arts Building, located on the
Tennessee Tech campus at 1150 N. Dixie Avenue. The program will feature the
group in works by Bach, Scheidt, Serocki, Thelonious Monk, Poulenc and more.

TTU Associate Professor of Trombone Joshua Hauser says of the group, ³this
is a great chance to hear an up and coming chamber music ensemble that is
going to make a big splash on the scene. I encourage anyone who enjoys
brass music or chamber music in general to join us.²

Quatuor du Sud is a trombone quartet comprised of professional players and
college professors from the Southeast. The group has performed at numerous
venues in Alabama, Georgia and Mississippi. Dr. Doug Bristol is a
trombonist/composer and a faculty member at Alabama State University in
Montgomery, AL. Dr. Bradley Palmer is on the faculty at Columbus State
University in Columbus, GA where he teaches trombone and music technology
courses. Demondrae Thurman is the professor of tuba and euphonium at the
University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, AL. The group¹s bass trombonist, Jeff
Koonce is a free-lance performer in Birmingham, AL and maintains a busy
schedule of performing and private lesson teaching. Quatuor du Sud is
dedicated to performing standard trombone quartet literature and new
compositions and arrangements for quartet, and to increasing the exposure
and prominence of the trombone quartet in the world of chamber music.
