[Trombone-l] Oiling bottom rotary valve bearing.

Hi Mike, naturally, the best way would be to drop the rotor and oil the
stem prior to replacing it in the casing.
But I would recommend just placing a drop on the stem right under the stop
arm and then pulling the f attachment tuning slide.
This creates a bit of suction pulling the oil into the bearing.

I recommend Selmer Key oil, but any heavy oil will do, Yamaha is good,
also 3 in 1 would work fine.

Thanks
Eric

Subject: [Trombone-l] Oiling bottom rotary valve bearing.

A month or so ago, I asked for advice on a leaky rotary valve on my
vintage Conn 72H bass trombone. I received some very informative and
valuable advice, all of which I've saved until I get back north in about
a month, where I keep my 72 H.

Until then, I have one more question; Although the upper bearing can be
oiled by simply unscrewing the valve cap, how do you get oil to the
bottom bearing, other than pouring it down the slide nearest the bearing
?

Any advice will be appreciated.

Thanks,

Mike Terry
