Yes. If you can play a tuba you can play a cimbasso.
Most of them are now made with 5 valves, matching the popular tuba
fingerings. But considering they are typically pitches a4th or a 7th
below a bass trombone, you don't really need to use the complicated
fingerings very much. If you play in the middle register, which is
plenty low for jazz improvisation, you'll be on the first 3 valves most
of the time, and they work like the first 3 valves on any brass instrument.
