For those not aware, the IMSLP free score site is back up.. It is a
tremendous site, with hundreds of PD scanned scores available for
perusal and DL, and even a few orchestral parts (nothing major in the
latter catagory that I've found so far).

Tonight I found the original Mousorgky score (as opposed to the
Rimsky-Korsakov version with which we are all familiar) of _Night on
Bald Mountain_ . I immediately DL'd an MP3 of it on EMuusic.com. Very
interesting!

I've been spending time re-reading the classic Berlioz _Treatise on
Instrumentation_ (the English edition with the Strauss comments
inserted). See under Berlioz in the composer index to find it.

Also there is another orchestration text I have not seen before by C. M.
Widor (more famous as an organist). Again, check under Widor in the
composer index to find it. All trombonists should check out page 86 in
this book to read Widor's account of his first encounter with a trombone
glissando.
