And organ pipes are made of lead (as well as tin, wood, and other
materials) without being bright OR sine wave.  

I was just reading Audsley on organ registration last night, and he
mentions materials in pipe construction.  He notes that there is no
clear evidence that materials make any difference to organ tone, yet he
agrees with the majority that nevertheless feel materials probably do
make a difference.  

Sure hate to play a trombone made of lead though, probably weighs as
much as a Monette.
