[Trombone-l] King M series MPs?

HI Emil,

I've played King's for 58 years but have never seen a comparison chart that
included the M series MP's. Not having an optical comparator handy I
resorted to the ancient and honorable method of comparing mouthpiece sizes;
using a standard US $.025 piece as a template for the rim diameter, the
first knuckle test for cup depth and eyeballing the throat size. I found the
following:

        The M21 has rim and throat diameters very close to the Bach 12
        The M31 has rim and throat diameters very close to the Bach 7
        The M11 has rim and throat diameters very close to the Bach 15
        The cups of all three are deeper than the Bach C cup and possibly
less of a bowl shape but that is a very subjective
observation.

Hope this helps.

Fred H
