[Trombone-l] Assessing mouthpieces

Of course there's the method that I heard many, many years ago at a clinic by Rich Matteson.  He attributed it to Stan Freeze, I think.  Someone asked him what kind of tuba mouthpiece he used.  Stan replied, "I use a gold one - because it looks cool!"

I'm just gonna get myself a magnetic mouthpiece with a built-in 
compass and always play toward the North pole.
(would that work? I doubt it)

I can't afford one of those steel jobs.
