I've got a bell similar to that on the alto sackbut, that I made.  I made it because it fits in a carry-on.  And, as I should have expected, it sounds like it's designed to compete with a piccolo trumpet.  

What mouthpiece do people use on these things, to make them sound good or maybe just quieter?
