[Trombone-l] Pit Stories

This isn't a pit story per-se, but it is a cautionary tale.
When getting up on those modular riser kits, it is a good idea to check that
the crew has properly fastened the stair treads to the riser.
I was out on the road with a big band and came off the stand vigorously,
only to have the stair section just ROLL AWAY out from under my feet.
I came crashing down into the section between the 3 ft. high riser and the
other junk in and around the stairs. Cut a nice line in one of my fingers.
Got bandaged and thanked my lucky stars I play trombone (don't have to bend
my fingers. . .this was slide hand).

I've really enjoyed reading about players experiences with Wicked. Anyone
else out there playing in a pit for a show? I'd love to hear stories about
your past and present gigs.
Clay
