I once did Fiddler on the Roof, in POLISH.

All of the singers were American (non-Polish speakers) or Italian OPera soloists.

The conductor was Italian also. Those of you who know the show, remember there is no Overture. Tevya does a monologue & after he says "Tradition!" the orchestra starts.

Well Tevya is rambling (in Polish) & all of a sudden he looks at the pit, and says "Where the hell are you?". The Conductor says "I didn't hear Schailhnnjhgfsjyfk" (the Polish equiv of Tradition), Tevya says "So I dropped a line!"

Yikes!

Only went downhill from there.
But I laughed all the way to the bank.
