Anton Slama was indeed professor of trombone AND 
bass at the Vienna Conservatory. He was the 
second person to hold both these positions in 
tandem. (The first was Franz Glöggl, whose father 
"commissioned" Beethoven to write the Equali -- but that's another story.)
