I'm a long-time member of the TubeNet forum
(http://forums.chisham.com). The registration process
does work, but it is no longer automatic and
instantaneous. The administrator personally screens
every applicant to confirm that (s)he is a real person
and not a SPAMmer, troll, unauthorized advertiser, or
someone who previously violated the terms and language
standards of the forum. This screening process
includes confirming the applicant's IP address, since
those who want to cause trouble can simply attempt to
disguise themselves by entering a different user's
name (the on-screen identity is anonymous, if you wish
it to be so).
TubeNet is an extremely fine forum that is read by the
VERY top tuba and euphonium players in the world,
including those in the so-called "top 5" American
symphony orchestras, military bands, recording
studios, etc. Some of them "lurk," others post fairly
frequently. The forum also welcomes relative
newcomers and beginners to the discussions, with the
reminder to search the archives before asking for the
umpteenth time "which mouthpiece should I use," "to
which college should I apply," or "what's
better--silver or lacquer," etc. TubeNet has been
online for at least 12 years, so the archives are rich
with very useful information and opinions.
If you receive no response days after you've attempted
to register on TubeNet, you can contact the
administrator at sean at chisham.com.
