F attachments ("Quartventile") were introduced in 1839 by C.F. Sattler in
Leipzig, Germany.
G bass trombone were English tradition - All continental Europe used the F
bass trombone
till then, with larger bore (oliveshooter?). That's why we have the B-F
glisses from Bartok.
